
Frid Royal Canadian Navy World War IIFrid Royal Canadian Navy World War II, Actor Jonathan Frid died Friday, April 13, of natural causes in a hospital in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, the Associated Press reports. He was 87. Best known for playing Barnabas Collins from 1966-1971 on ABC’s vampire soap opera Dark Shadows, Frid served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. He graduated from Hamilton’s McMaster University, and he later earned a degree in directing at the Yale School of Drama. He also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. Frid, who never married, is also known for his 1973 TV movie The Devil’s Daughter. His other film and TV credits include Dial M For Murder, As The World Turns, Murder in the Cathedral and Oliver Stone’s directorial debut, Seizure. |
