Jessica Dorrell And Rally
Jessica Dorrell And Rally, Arkansas fans have planned a rally on Monday in support of football coach Bobby Petrino, whose job security is in doubt after an alleged extramarital affair with Jessica Dorrell.
A Razorback fan group has planned a 7 p.m. protest in front of the Broyles Complex at the University of Arkansas to pressure athletic director Jeff Long to retain Petrino after his public discretion. The group’s Facebook page, Team Save Coach Petrino, has close to 9,000 members and is hoping the rallying cry of “Woo Pig Sooie” will help convince the school to keep Petrino.
Petrino has been extremely successful at Arkansas over the last two years with a 21-5 record, but is currently on indefinite administrative leave after publicly admitting an “inappropriate relationship” with the 25-year-old student-athlete development coordinator for football.
The relationship became public knowledge on April 5th in the aftermath of Petrino’s motorcycle wreck on April 1st. Petrino told reporters and Long that he was riding his motorcycle solo when he crashed resulting in broken ribs and cracked vertebrae. But the police report released on Thursday showed that Dorrell, a former volleyball player at the school, was riding on the back of the motorcycle at the time of the crash.
It was then that Petrino, who is married with four children, admitted in a statement that he carried on a past inappropriate relationship. Long immediately put Petrino on leave while he reviewed the incident and the necessary repercussions.
“I expect to move very expeditiously in my review of this personnel matter and hope to have a resolution soon,” Long said, adding that he did not know yet if Dorrell would also be suspended from her position at the university.
As Outkick the Coverage’s Clay Travis noted on Sunday, it looks like Arkansas will retain Petrino despite his transgressions. He is likely too successful and popular to fire despite carrying on an affair with another person within the athletic department.
