Jane Mcgarry Arrested
Jane Mcgarry Arrested, Jane McGarry, a mainstay at KXAS-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth where she is a news anchor, was arrested Sunday on an intoxicated driving charge.
McGarry, 56, was driving her 2007 Porsche on the Dallas North Tollway when she was pulled over by a trooper around 1:30 a.m. Sunday because she changed lanes without using her signal, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Jane McGarry, who has been a news anchor on KXAS-TV since 1982, had bloodshot, droopy eyes and “used a loud tone of voice when walking,” a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety noted, according to the Dallas Star-Telegram.
McGarry told the trooper she had three glasses of wine but refused a breath test, according to the police report.
Because of her refusal, a blood test was taken and the results were not known as of Sunday night, the Dallas Morning News reported.
McGarry reportedly failed other field sobriety tests following the incident, including not being able to recite the alphabet, stand on one leg or walk and turn without difficulty.
KXAS declined to comment after McGarry was arrested other than to say it was looking into the incident.
“NBC 5 station management is looking into the matter this evening and has no further comment,” Brian Hocker, vice president of programming for KXAS-TV, said Sunday, according to the Star-Telegram.
Before the incident, McGarry had never previously been arrested for DWI or had any convictions, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department told the Star-Telegram.
The Dallas Morning News attempted to contact McGarry about her arrest but she could not be reached.
Some of McGarry’s more memorable interviews of her career include former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Willie Nelson and Ellen Degeneres. (International Business Times)
