Weird World Records, Former F1 star and DTM driver David Coulthard took on a strange world record attempt yesterday – catching a flying golf ball in a high-end Mercedes-Benz sportscar.

Coulthard, along with pro golfer Jake Shepherd, set a new Guinness World Record at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, UK, when he caught the ball in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster’s c**kpit.

He was travelling at 193km/h in the hugely expensive roadster, the ball was travelling at an impressive 286km/h, and it was caught 275 metres from the ‘tee’.

The somewhat bizarre exercise was being filmed for a video that Mercedes will release in July.

“This world record attempt is definitely one of the most unusual things I’ve ever been asked to do with a car,” Coulthard said. (New Zealand Herald)
