Furtado came clean soon after, stating she had performed for his family in Italy in 2007, and donated her $1 million fee to Free the Children.

In a new interview with the Globe and Mail, the 33-year-old “Big Hoops” singer admitted she didn’t see any problem with the gig at the time.

“I do this concert, and I’m completely ignorant of anything,” she said, adding, “It reminds you a bit that I’m kind of a target, or how quickly you can be a target.”

In light of the civilian revolt in Libya, Furtado announced on Twitter in February 2011 that she was getting rid of her payment.

“In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Qaddafi clan to perform a 45 min. Show for guests at a hotel in Italy,” she tweeted. “I am going to donate the $.”
